Braille Options Launch New SIte

31-Mar-2011

It’s not the first time that JRT have been at the forefront of Braille and Signage technology. They led the way with the development of the Braille OZ unit that made the insertion of the Braille beads into Tactile Signage easier and automated, for those manufacturers who had routers and engravers.

Now, through Braille Options, they are the first to introduce the Clear Based Polymer Braille signage, which is not only vandal resistant but is also UV stable. It is making Braille signage more versatile with the ability to have company logos and emblems as well as pictorial or theme backgrounds to the signage. The uses are endless with this unique method of manufacturing.

There have been many incidents of vandalism of Braille signage especially picking off the beads or the tactile figures. You can see many such cases on the Public Transport system and in Schools and other public venues. The cost to repair and replace Braille signage is extensive. Such damage is now almost impossible with this new system says Jim Tapscott.

Visual Impact Magazine was fortunate enough to be present at the installation of the first Polymer Braille Manufacturing Equipment at JRT in April of this year, which arrived from Nova Polymer based in the USA.
